Bitmovin Partners with Yospace

With Yospace partnership, Bitmovin can now stitch ads directly into streaming video content, creating a broadcast-like transition between ads and content.

SAN FRANCISCO — 2nd August 2017
Bitmovin, the provider of streaming video infrastructure technologies, today announced it has partnered with Yospace, the leading provider of server-side dynamic ad insertion, to provide digital publishers using the Bitmovin Adaptive Streaming Player with the ability to seamlessly stitch ads into video content creating a broadcast-like transition that helps bypasses ad blockers on user devices.

Ad blockers are particularly prominent in the US and throughout Europe, especially among the coveted male 18-34 demographic, so any publisher or broadcaster trying to monetize those audiences could easily be prevented from reaching a major portion of them. With server-side ad insertion (SSAI), they do not have to worry about ad blockers since the content is stitched directly into the stream. Yospace customers have seen view-through rates regularly surpass 96% as a result.

“With the rise in popularity of ad blockers, publishers have to figure out innovative ways to monetize their content,” said Stefan Lederer, CEO of Bitmovin. “Server-side ad insertion eliminates the concern for ad blocking and gives any digital video publisher the best tool available for maximizing revenue, while delivering a killer streaming experience free from buffering or interruptions”

With this partnership, Bitmovin enables targeted live stream and on-demand SSAI using Yospace Dynamic Ad Insertion in combination with its Adaptive Streaming Player.

“Our partnership with Bitmovin is good news for broadcasters looking to take their OTT offering to the next level. Broadcasters are able to work with cutting edge video workflow technology that is integrated with a proven monetization solution,” said David Springall, CTO of Yospace.

Bitmovin and Yospace will demo this new technology at IBC 2017, September 15-19 in Amsterdam. Come by the Bitmovin booth in Hall 14, Booth E17.

Yospace and Adstream publish paper to promote Ad Copy Management

Posted on

Yospace and Adstream have published a paper, entitled “Translating Broadcast Ad Copy Principles to the Dynamic Ad Insertion Age”, to promote their findings on how to build an efficient targeted advertising structure for online broadcasting.

With TV programming increasingly available online, a door has opened for digital advertising with impressive reach and rich targeting options. This is really the first time advertisers have been able to deliver targeted ads against TV programmes. However, to achieve the same sophistication as other online channels, media, advertisers and technology providers must come together to drive standardisation.

Standardising OTT ads presents 3 major challenges:

  • Preventing lost ad space
  • Managing clearance and rights
  • Providing visibility of the results

In the white paper, which was presented at NAB 2017, Yospace and Adstream put forward their findings on what needs to be done to make efficient OTT advertising a reality.

Keepixo and Yospace teaming up for Dynamic Ad Insertion

Posted on

Grenoble, France – Staines, UK – April 20, 2017.

Keepixo, a leading provider of software-based head-end solutions for IPTV and OTT, and Yospace, a leading provider of Dynamic Ad Insertion solutions, today announced their systems have been pre-integrated to offer a full end-to-end monetisation solution for live TV channels when viewed online.

Yospace’s server-side Dynamic Ad Insertion technology allows broadcasters to replace advertisements across live streams in a way that reflects the seamless viewing expectations of broadcast television. Replacement ads can be tailored to suit the interests of each viewer, creating an environment in which view-through rates far exceed industry norms, which is great news for advertisers and broadcasters alike.

Keepixo’s packaging product is a flexible, feature-rich OTT packager. Provided as a stand-alone solution or combined with Keepixo’s live transcoder, it can address all OTT formats and requirements.

Technically, Keepixo’s equipment receives live audio/video streams with SCTE-35 ad markers, and encodes them in multi bit-rate for OTT TV platforms. Yospace’s platform receives that stream and, when it detects an ad marker, calls a 3rd party ad server which instructs Yospace which ads to stitch into the stream. Yospace manage each streaming session individually, which allows advertising to be served that is relevant to the user’s interests.

“Now that OTT services are becoming widely deployed, broadcasters and operators are looking for ways to monetize their content. And this is where Yospace comes in,” said Jerome Blanc, COO at Keepixo. “Yospace’s Ad Insertion technology combined with the flexibility of our OTT Encoder-Packager enables targeted and regionalized advertisements, and secures our customers’ ad revenues.”

“We’ve worked with Keepixo longer than any other encoding or packaging provider and we’re delighted to announce the pre-integration of our platforms,” said David Springall, CTO at Yospace. “Dynamic Ad Insertion is the most talked-about monetization solution for broadcasters today. One of the key factors behind a successful implementation is the relationship between the ad stitching platform and the encoding/packaging workflow, so this announcement is great news for all concerned.”

A demonstration of Keepixo’s OTT encoder-packager integrated with Yospace’s ad insertion solution will be available on Keepixo’s stand (#SU9102CM) at NAB/Las Vegas, April 24-27, 2017.
