Input and Output Feeds
Input and Output feeds provide a means by which content is ingested and published in yospaceCDS. In addition to using feeds to ingest content you can also upload content from your computer, or write your own programs to send content to yospaceCDS using the Media Item API.
In the Content Management console, you can view, edit and create Input and Output Feeds for your requirements.
Manage Input Feeds
The Manage Inputs option (listed under Input Management) provides you a summary of your active and inactive Input Feeds. When an Input Feed is inactive, no content is fed from the Input Feed into the Content Groups it is set up to feed into.
The Manage Inputs screen provides the following information for each feed listed:
- Type
- This can either
for an FTP Input Feed or
for an RSS Input Feed - Name
- The descriptive name you provided when you set up the Input Feed
- Status
- The current status of the input feed. This is determined by what happened on the last scheduled poll of the Input Feed. A traffic light system provides a summary of the status: Green means the last poll was successful, Flashing Green means that the last poll was successful and new content was added, Amber means that no report has been received for this input feed, which could be because it has not been polling because it is busy fetching new items, and Red means there is a problem. Inactive feeds show their status colour as grey.
Manage Output Feeds
The Manage Outputs option (listed under Output Management) provides you a summary of your active and inactive Output Feeds. When an Output Feed is inactive, clients connecting to its URL will receive an error.
The Manage Outputs screen provides the following information for each feed listed:
- Type
- Currently, this can only be
for RSS Output Feed. Other types may be added in future yospaceCDS releases. - Format
- This is the feed type or format. Clicking the heading will sort the list of feeds by this column. Feed types refer to the syntax of the feed (i.e Podcast, MRSS, Nokia Video Centre) and the quality of content supplied in that feed (100K, 200K, etc). For more information on feed types, see Setting Up RSS Output Feeds
- Name
- The descriptive name you provided when you set up the Output Feed. The list can be sorted by this column by clicking on the heading
- Feed ID
- The unique ID of the feed. The URL of the feed is
http://cds1-feed.yospace.com/ID. The list can be sorted by this column by clicking on the heading.
