| SPEScript Overview |
The SmartPhone Emulator Developer Edition introduced a scripting system called SPEScript. This gives you programmatic control of the WAP emulator, providing unmatched potential for demonstration and testing applications.
SPEScript can be used simply to send user events to the phone to simulate a user interacting with the emulator, or it can be used to build complex and powerful testing utilities. SPEScript can read comma-separated value (CSV) text files, connect to databases, read and write files, generate pop-up dialogues, create multiple instances of emulators, find text elements within the current deck/card, control WMLScript within the emulator and much more.
The SPE Scripting System is fully documented in the SmartPhone Emulator Developer Edition User Manual, which is available from the download pages. There are four sample scripts in the manual which demonstrate some of the basic features. These provide an ideal base from which to develop your own scripts.
